Mike is owner of Pugsly’s Traditional Barbershop and Pugsly’s Sideshow, both in Kingston New York.

Influenced by a broad range of styles due to his exposure to many different subcultures and customers, Mike is one of the few barbers that can nail pretty much any style. Though, as you can see in this video, he comes into his own when cutting classic styles and is a master of the modern Taper.

The concept of a Classic Pompadour involves sweeping hair upwards from the face and worn high over the forehead. This is a typical men’s hairstyle from the 1950s and early 1960s, which was worn by celebrities such as Elvis Presley and James Dean. The pomp has remained a steadfast style for the guy who wants to look just as sharp as those vintage trendsetters.

With the addition of a tight Taper, the cut becomes very versatile. Perfect for the office, but just as at home at the beach or in a bar.

Mike styles this cut with Uppercut Deluxe Matte Pomade.  Matte Pomade is a water soluble, no shine product that provides medium hold and a light, natural finish. This makes it perfect for a diverse range of styles – both classic and modern.

For those chasing a slicker look or for a little more control, Uppercut Deluxe Pomade and Uppercut Deluxe Monster Hold are a perfect fit.
