To kick off their 2015 Live Lodge Residency, Rolling Stone threw a launch party at Newtown Social Club in Sydney, with Uppercut Deluxe on hand to keep everyone looking fresh.
Working from a pop up barbershop, Global Brand Ambassador Tommy J and Phil Curd cut over 40 haircuts on the night, wowing the crowd with their traditional barbering skills and Uppercut Deluxe products. Uppercut Deluxe Pop-Up Barbershop. Curated by Rolling Stone, Live Lodge is a music event that runs for three weeks, featuring some of Sydney’s best local and international performance artists.
Located just around the corner from the Rolling Stone offices, the Newtown Social Club hosted an all-night set from Aussie band Boy and Bear to kick off the event, with guests also treated to local acts and a theatrical performance by Jack Colwell. It was an anything goes kind of night, with apple bobbing, custom cocktails and tunes provided by DJ Jones Jr to keep the dance floor pumping.
The turnout was huge, with people queueing up at the door for their chance to check out the bands and have their hair styled by Tommy J and Phil. It wasn’t long before the venue was packed from wall to wall with music fans drinking beers, sipping cocktails and soaking up the laidback atmosphere.

A Sydney local, Tommy J looked right at home in his pop up barbershop, in front of a stand filled Uppercut Deluxe products. Plenty of bearded patrons were keen to have their facial hair shaped with our Beard Balm, while others wanted to check out the Pomade, Featherweight and Monster Hold waxes. Uppercut Deluxe handed out bags of gifts for men and women throughout the night, to make sure everyone stayed looking their best for the event. Our thanks go to Rolling Stone and Newtown Social Club for inviting us be a part of such an iconic event.
