In between running two of his own barbershops, Global Barber Ambassador Luke Dolan found the time to go on a barber tour through Russia. He travelled around the country visiting a number of key barbershops in the Chop Chop franchise, one of the largest chains of barbershops in the world. The purpose of the Uppercut Deluxe x Chop Chop Russia Tour was to get to know Russia’s barbering scene, while building relationships with barbers in the region and educating them on the latest Uppercut Deluxe products like featherweight, mo wax and beard balm, to name a few. Drawing on his years of experience in the industry, Luke was able to share a few tricks of the trade with local up and coming barbers.
On-lookers taking in some barber knowledge from Uppercut Deluxe Ambassador, Luke Dolan. Just five years ago, getting a decent, reasonably priced haircut wasn’t an easy task for Russian guys, even in metropolitan areas, and men were forced to visit women’s hair salons in search of barbering services. Chop Chop was only established in 2011, but has already achieved widespread popularity. The Chop Chop franchise now has over sixty locations across Russia and the Baltics, and has been an Uppercut Deluxe stockist since June 2014.

The success of the franchise reflects an emergence of barbershop culture in Eastern Europe, with a growing number of men in the region wanting to cut their hair in classic and traditional styles. Known for its quality service and casual vibe, patrons can enjoy a cup of coffee or a beer while getting their hair done at Chop Chops.
Luke demonstrating some techniques to educate barbers in the region. At every barbershop he visited, Luke gave a masterclass in cutting, styling and wet shaves, using a range of Uppercut Deluxe products including the styling, wash and shave products. From Chop Chop’s Training Academy in Moscow all the way to Saint Petersburg, Luke’s demonstrations were always met with positive feedback, and many of the barbers who attended the masterclasses expressed a strong interest in his traditional grooming techniques and styling products. To finish off his trip, Luke was invited to Chop Chop’s anniversary celebrations, where he performed one last demonstration in front of a large crowd.
