Featured Style: Classic Pomp
The Classic Pompadour haircut is without a doubt the style of a generartion. Popularised by the rock stars and greasers of the 1950s the Pompadour, or Pomp, is a classic men’s haircut.
You might be wondering what a Pomp even is. Put simply, a Pompadour refers to the fringe of the hair being rolled over, always best worn with a tonne of volume.
This cut by Uppercut Deluxe Ambassador Chris Brownless is a great example of a Classic Pomp, paired with a nice tight fade dressed with a healthy dab of Monster Hold for control and shine.
Monster Hold was inspired by Pomades of yesteryear -making it the perfect pairing for a Classic Pomp. It offers unbeatable hold, healthy shine and best of all, it can be reworked throughout the day so you can keep your style on point.
Styling a Pomp can be a bit tricky, but with these tips and a bit of practice, you will have it down in no time.
Before you get to styling, give your hair a wash with Uppercut Deluxe Degreaser followed with Conditioner. Degreaser will make sure any trace of remaining product is removed, while Conditioner will leave your hair fresh and healthy. Once washed, give your hair a thorough towel dry.
Take your hairdryer and set it to medium heat. Begin to dry your hair, directing it backward using a Quiff Roller.
To create volume in your pomp, use your Quiff Roller to create tension in your fringe, then hit it with your hairdryer, directing the airflow upwards.
Next, take a generous scoop of Monster Hold and thoroughly rub it through your hands until it completely emulsifies.
Working from the back of your head to the front, begin to rake your fingers and hand through your hair.
Finally, take your CT9 Styling Comb and comb your hair into style. Pull the comb backward over your head, following the comb with your spare hand to catch flyways.
And there you have it, the perfect Classic Pomp!
